10-06 THIS is Exactly What Is Needed. Employment for Victims: Coffee Shop to Employ Sex Trafficking Survivors

CAMP HILL, Pa. —A new coffee shop is being built in Camp Hill, Cumberland County, but with a twist. What used to be a hair salon will now be a coffee shop that will employ survivors of sex trafficking. The organization that is helping put this together is trying to transform this building into a welcoming space for all to gather and listen. To some, this future shop will be a place to get a delicious cup of coffee, but to others, it’s a new beginning.

“Our coffee shop, we will have survivors of the commercial sex industry working here, but we’ll also have support people with them,” said Patty Seaman of Peace Promise.

10-05 October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It is important to recognize that human trafficking and domestic violence don’t occur in silos; rather, there is a marked overlap in the pattern of behaviors that both abusers and traffickers use to exert power and control over a victim.

An average of 20 people are physically abused by intimate partners every minute. This equates to more than 10 million abuse victims annually. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been physically abused by an intimate partner, and 1 in 5 women and 1 in 7 men have been severely physically abused by an intimate partner. Millions of Americans live in daily, silent fear within their own homes. In addition, every year millions of children are exposed to domestic violence. Domestic violence incidents affect every person within a home and can have long-lasting negative effects on children’s emotional well-being, and social and academic functioning. Keep kids safe

An elementary school teacher, a college professor and a pair of U.S. Air Force members are among 160 people charged in a statewide human trafficking crackdown in Ohio, the state’s top prosecutor said Tuesday.

In addition to the arrests, “Operation Buyer’s Remorse” identified more than 100 human trafficking survivors, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced in a news release. The arrests began Sept. 25 and lasted through Saturday. They took place in “every corner of the state” including in and around Columbus, Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, Youngstown, Marietta and Portsmouth.

It was “a concerted effort to stem the demand that fuels human trafficking,” Yost said, pointing to the involvement of nearly 100 law enforcement agencies and human service organizations across the Buckeye State. 10-03 Wake Up America! Protect Our Children. Let’s Do This Here – Mobile Phone Use to be Banned in Schools in England

Mobile phone use should be banned in schools across England to improve behaviour, the Education Secretary Gillian Keegan announced today.

New guidance from the Department for Education will back head teachers in banning mobile phone use throughout the school day, including at break times, to tackle disruptive behaviour and online bullying while boosting attention during lessons. It aims to support the wider work the government is doing to raise standards in schools by increasing students’ focus and reducing distractions.

This ban supports the hard work of teachers and education staff – and continues to build on government’s reforms backed up by the highest level of funding for schools in history, in real terms, of nearly £60 billion by 2024-25.

The move will bring England in line with other countries that have already implemented a ban, including France, Italy and Portugal. It follows warnings from the United Nations on the risks of smartphones in schools and government data that found around a third (29%) of secondary school pupils reported mobile phones being used when they were not supposed to in most, or all, lessons.

If schools fail to implement the new guidance, the government will consider legislating in the future to make the guidance statutory.

09-30 SOUND THE ALARM! FBI Issues Warning About Newly Discovered Pedophilic, Satanist Extortion Cult Targeting Children Online

The cult uses platforms including Roblox, Discord, Twitch, Soundcloud, and Telegram to find new victims.

The FBI said in their public notice that the cult uses many names, including 676, 764, CVLT, Court, Kaskar, Harm Nation, Leak Society, and H3ll, but “continuously evolve and form subgroups under different monikers.”

“To gain access to a majority of these groups, prospective members are required to live-stream or upload videos depicting their minor victims harming animals or committing self-harm, suicide, murder, or other acts of violence,” the FBI said. “The key motivators of these groups are to gain notoriety and rise in status within their groups.”

The group was discovered after police in New York arrested a 23-year-old named Angel Almeida on gun charges and began investigating his social media posts. 09-27 WARNING: NJ School District Where Bullied Girl Took Her Own Life Allowing Officials to Go Through Students’ Phones

The New Jersey district where bullied 14-year-old Adriana Kuch took her own life will now allow school officials to look through students’ cellphones in an effort to curb bullying.

The Central Regional School District in Ocean County will require middle school students to keep their phones in special pockets during class, while high schoolers will also have the option to keep them switched off and put away. The updated electronics policy went into effect in August and applies to students in grades 7 through 12, NJ.com reported.

The change in rules comes after 14-year-old Adriana died by suicide after a video was posted online of a group of girls cruelly bullying and physically attacking her. Adriana, who attended Central Regional High School in Berkeley Township, was found dead at home two days after the horrific Feb. 1 assault.

An alarming video of the bullying showed several students attacking the teen, hitting her with a water bottle as she walked with her boyfriend down a school hallway. Adriana’s assailants punched her, kicked her and pulled her hair, while others looked on and laughed.

Officials at the school 14-year-old Adriana Kuch attended will now be allowed to search students’ cellphones.  Adriana’s humiliating beating and the online circulation of a video of the attack led to her taking her own life, her father said, calling her suicide a direct result of repeated harassment. His claims have prompted a firestorm of accusations that the school district has a culture of bullying.

At least three lawsuits have been filed against the school district over claims that officials failed to investigate on-campus harassment and bullying of students. Three girls have been charged with third-degree felony assault and a fourth was charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the assault on Adriana.
