01-08 Parents Beware. Online Gaming Is A Predators’ Nest
It’s not a game. Sexual predators use online gaming platforms to target children. Millions of children log into their favorite online gaming platforms each day to battle it out with their friends, creating worlds where their imaginations can run wild. Half the children in the United States use online gaming platforms. They just want to play. Today’s youth have online games. That’s today’s world in 2024. Online. Kids want friends. But not every ‘friend’ online is real and not every player is there to have fun. Sexual predators are often online with those children. Parents wake up! You need to pay attention to what’s happening. If you bought gaming consoles, games, then you have a duty to install safety features and filters. This goes hand-in-hand with the purchase of any devices – phones, laptops, Chromebooks, watches. We direct you to our colleagues at Protect Young Eyes. They just issued their brand new Parent Safety Guides for every device. If your child is approached online or exchanged information, pictures, etc., would you know what to do? REPORT IMMEDIATELY. Call 911 and also call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. Parent Tips – limit amount of screen time, request weekly usage reports, age-appropriate apps, limit Internet content accessed to ensure adult sites are not viewable, turn off location services and set a PIN, controlled by parent so child has no ability to alter settings.

01-06 That New Gaming Console is Fun for Your Child but Not Everyone is There to Play. Be Aware of Sexual Predators Targeting Children Online. All it takes is one click, one chat response to a stranger, for your child to unwittingly fall into a trap.

Millions of children log into their favorite online gaming platforms each day to battle it out with their friends, creating worlds where their imaginations can run wild. They are there to have fun. Not every ‘friend’ is real, however, and not every player is there to have fun. Sexual predators are often online with those children, and parents need to pay attention to what’s happening.
In late summer 2020, FBI New York Intelligence Analyst Chris Travis noticed several similarities in cases where sexual predators were using popular online gaming platforms to victimize children. He decided to take a deeper look at the investigations his colleague, Special Agent Pao Fisher, had recently opened. He discovered something that struck a nerve.
“As an analyst, one of my jobs is to take case information, match it to other cases to look for trends and commonalities, and to see if different suspects are using similar methods,” said Travis. “I remember when I noticed the patterns, and it hit home. My young son loves to play online games, and he was potentially being exposed to the behavior I was seeing in these cases.”

Snap Must Face Illicit Drug Case Not Protected By Tech Shield
Snap Inc. failed to wield the tech industry’s immunity law known as Section 230 to block a lawsuit alleging that its social media messaging app, Snapchat, facilitated the sale of fentanyl-laced counterfeit drugs that caused the death of eight of its users, including minors.
Snap’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by around a dozen parents whose children had purchased drugs from Snapchat users containing lethal doses of the synthetic opioid, was mostly denied Tuesday by Judge Lawrence Riff of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
“Today’s ruling marks the first time a court has allowed parents to hold social media …
01-03 THIS. Do You Know What Deepfake Technology Is? Listen to Chris McKenna, Founder of Protect Young Eyes Because He Knows
Chris Says…
-
Our #1 child safety issue for 2024 is deepfake technology, which includes AI undressing (nudifying) websites and apps.
IMO, parents and governments are completely underestimating the risk of harm related to these technologies. Our US Congress is frighteningly ignorant on this issue.
Over break, it’s the one topic that has kept me up. Extremely concerned at what it could do to ANY of us.
Consider the mom who received a fake phone call from what sounded like her daughter, claiming she had been kidnapped. Her voice generated by deepfake AI.
Or the 30 teen girls in New Jersey, who had fake nudes made of them by male classmates. AI-generated from screenshots of social media photos.
So, late last week, we tested 43 of the top deepfake and nudify websites against some of the top parental control software tools.
Some performed well. A few failed to filter over 70% of the sites, which is a massive gap.
We’ve sent emails to all of them with our findings. If there were gaps, we’ve asked for confirmation when they’re fixed.
The number of deepfake apps being added to App Stores is outpacing controls. Some are rated age 4+.
What makes this issue so sinister is that there are few technical solutions. Even for families who have delayed.
But we’ve created a list of 14 relational and technical steps parents can take to help mitigate deepfake risks. We hope to share the complete list on Wednesday.
Please share this post with other parents and spread awareness! We need to be prepared and not just scared. #delayistheway

01-01 New Year! January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Education. THIS is the 2024 Warrior Way. Join us.
January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. As we begin a new year, it is an important time to reflect on the resilience of trafficking survivors and recognize the efforts of those who work tirelessly to prevent and eliminate this inhumane and devastating form of abuse and exploitation. We’ve had many challenges in 2023. Slavery is escalating in the United States. Let us all enter into 2024 with the commitment that we will educate, prevent, speak up and out, have open and honest communication with our children and urge our 118th Congress to enact legislation to keep kids safe.
Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons, includes both forced labor and sex trafficking. It not only represents a threat to international peace and security but also undermines the rule of law, robs millions of their dignity and freedom, enriches transnational criminals and terrorists, and threatens public safety and national security everywhere. This crime affects all of us. Our children are vulnerable because of their online use. It is reported that 500,000 predators are online every day. One in five children will be approached online with sexual content – images and/or conversation. 40% will attempt to meet that stranger in real-time.
All of this must end. These are crimes against humanity. This is a bipartisan issue. Human trafficking belongs to no political party. It is time to end these atrocities.
