04-03 Let Us Keep Remembering Arizona Teen Emily Pike. What Happened to Her? Call 9-1-1 Immediately if You Know Anything.

On February 14, Emily’s remains were found in a remote area near Globe close to US Highway 60. A leaked memo revealed that her head and torso were found in trash bags. Since then, several vigils have been held, a $75,000 reward has been offered and advocates are pushing for more attention to be given to missing Indigenous peoples’ cases. Now, officials from multiple agencies are working together to create a task force dedicated to the case. The task force consists of GCSO, the San Carlos Apache Police Department, the Mesa Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The task force does not yet have a name. The GCSO also established an online tip line for members of the public who have information regarding the case. When people click on the link, the website will ask for a zip code when you create your account, and any agencies that subscribe to the online portal within a 50-mile radius of the zip code you entered will appear in a dropdown menu. The agency to select for the Emily Pike case is the San Carlos Apache Police Department. You can also download the Tips411 app on the App Store or Google Play.

04-01 The Naked Truth: Porn is Harmful. Many Kids Experience Porn for the First Time by Age 11. We Must Discuss.

“Porn has become completely normalized in our society, which is making it difficult for people to see just how harmful it is emotionally and even physically.”

Porn cannot continue to live under the radar, like some dark societal taboo. For something that a large percentage of people deal with on a regular basis from the time they’re 9-12, we don’t talk about the real effects of porn enough.

If porn sites receive more visitors per month than Netflix, Amazon, and Twitter combined, it’s worth asking whether porn is as harmless as some would assume. At least 70% of men and 30% of women are watching porn on a regular basis; children are being exposed to it at younger ages, the average being 11. With this many regular viewers creating an exponentially increasing demand, why is there such awkward silence surrounding the topic?

03-31 Child Labor Remains a Key State Legislative Issue in 2025. Why Are Laws Being Weakened?

Click here for the latest version of our 50-state maps showing legislation to roll back or strengthen child labor protections.

Child labor remains a top issue in 2024 state legislative sessions amid soaring violations and widespread abuse of child labor laws in multiple sectors of the economy. On one hand, the coordinated, industry-backed effort to roll back child labor protections state by state has continued to expand. At the same time, some state legislators are proposing legislation to strengthen the rights of young workers and the laws designed to safeguard their health and education.

Since 2021, 28 states have introduced bills to weaken child labor laws, and 12 states have enacted them. By contrast, 14 states have introduced bills to strengthen child labor protections already in 2024—up from 11 states in all of 2023—as more state lawmakers recognize the need to address increasing violations and threats to current state and federal standards.

Attacks on child labor laws continue trend of weakening important state standards, with eventual goal of diminishing federal child labor laws.

03-30 What’s the Gracie Act and Why Should You Know About It? Hold CPS Accountable.

7.4% of U.S. children will be interviewed by CPS by age 18, often without witnesses or accountability for accuracy.

GRACIE Act Coalition Sign Up – S 659

The GRACIE Act (Generating Recordings of All CPS Interviews Everywhere) incentivizes states to modernize their CPS interview protocols to require mandatory audio or video recordings of all interviews in order to protect children from trafficking, abuse, and unnecessary removals. Child Protective Services (CPS) interview protocols are outdated and require reform. CPS is the gatekeeper to the foster care system. Mandatory audio recordings of all CPS interviews are a crucial accountability measure, similar to DOJ-mandated interrogation recordings and police body cameras. Senators Blackburn and Ossoff are co-leading in Congress, and it will be introduced shortly in the House.

It is both a child protection and “parents rights” bill as well, and you can watch the Congressional testimony of the story that inspired the bill here.

Street Grace is a the anti-child exploitation organization who is supporting the efforts for the advancement of the bill at both the state and federal level.

Summary: CPS (Child Protective Services – DCS or similar in some states) interview protocols are outdated and lack accountability.

  • Problem:
    • 37.4% of U.S. children will be interviewed by CPS by age 18, often without witnesses or accountability for accuracy.
    • Current practices risk inaccurate portrayal or omission of a child’s testimony, contributing to trauma and potential injustice.
  • Solution: Mandatory audio recordings of all CPS interviews to ensure accuracy and transparency, aligning with DOJ-mandated interrogation recordings and police body camera practices.
  • Benefits of Recording:
    • Enhances accountability, accuracy, and efficiency of interviews.
    • Reduces trauma by limiting repeated interviews.
    • Improves identification of trafficking victims (less than 1% currently identified).
  • Expert Support:
    • DOJ and OJJDP recommend recording to ensure transparency and proper documentation.
    • The National Children’s Advocacy Center states recordings are the most accurate method, used in 90% of their facilities.
    • The National Coalition for Child Protection Reform advocates for mandatory videotaping, suggesting non-recorded interviews be inadmissible in court.

Call to Action:

Federal: Incentivize state legislation to modernize CPS protocols to safeguard vulnerable youth (i.e. provide states with funding to support the passage of a law)

State: mandate that CPS record all interviews.
