Studies reveal that survivors of childhood sexual abuse delay disclosure for an average of 20 to 50 years, a common trauma response to a crime that no child should ever have to live through. However, a bill was just introduced in the Senate to ensure that survivors of child sexual abuse can seek justice whenever they are ready to come forward.

The Eliminating Limits to Justice for Child Sex Abuse Victims Act will remove the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse and exploitation.

POLK COUNTY, FLORIDA  Sheriff Grady Judd is calling out big tech companies, saying they’re not doing enough to stop the spread of child pornography. In late September, Polk County Sheriff’s Office investigators made a major bust, identifying suspects in possession of child pornography that originated from countries all over the world.

Google is rolling out the ability for kids, teens and their parents to request to have pictures deleted from the company’s image search results.

The new privacy option was one of many changes the company announced in August in an effort to preemptively build in additional protections for users under the age of 18. Google’s other planned safeguards include making video uploads private by default, and disabling and weeding out some “overly commercial” YouTube kids content, including unboxing videos.

Anyone under the age of 18 or their parent or guardian can ask Google to remove an image from appearing in search results by filling out this request form. You’ll need to specify that you’d like Google to remove “Imagery of an individual currently under the age of 18” and provide some personal information, the image URLs and search queries that would surface the results.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Children’s screen time has doubled during the pandemic — and it hasn’t gone down since, according to new research. Researchers from the University of California-San Francisco say youngsters are spending almost eight hours a day looking at smartphones, tablets, and televisions, compared to less than four hours before COVID.

Concerningly, this figure does not include the time spent on computers for school work. Researchers focused completely on recreational activities like playing video games, chatting on social media, texting, surfing the internet, and watching or streaming movies and TV shows. Along with contributing to a more sedentary lifestyle, study authors say this shift is also affecting the mental health of many adolescents.
