Just days away from a myriad of New York City elections, few are discussing a critical issue that has significant implications for our city: the sex trade. We need to hear whether our candidates want to shrink it and ensure that those attempting to exit it have meaningful access to services and strategies, thereby reducing harm to vulnerable and marginalized New Yorkers, or intend to let pimping, brothel-keeping and sex-buying expand in ways that will lead to exploitation, sex tourism and a predatory commercial sex industry throughout our five boroughs.
