Bellwether Research conducted a representative national survey of 1,007 parents with children in the K-12 age range who have access to a smartphone or tablet. The survey was conducted August 17 – 23, 2024.
The survey found that parents are very concerned that devices like tablets and smartphones pose a risk to children due to potential exposure to inappropriate content and unsafe interactions with peers, adults, and strangers online – and they shared the negative experiences their own children have had. Parents overwhelmingly want to see smartphone and tablet manufacturers and social media platforms invest more to protect children from harmful content, applications, and interactions on their devices.
