A multiagency effort in El Paso dubbed Operation Lost Souls located 24 runaways and missing children last month, officials said Tuesday.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said three children were found in Mexico, one in Puerto Rico, one in California and one in Oklahoma.

The operation led by Homeland Security Investigations and the DPS began in mid-May.

It was the first time that more than 15 law enforcement agencies and child advocacy groups collaborated to find children reported missing to the National Crime Information Center.
