As AI becomes a bigger part of our world, we will face important questions about what these systems may become and whether they could one day experience the world in ways we do not yet understand.
Those are questions worth asking. We should approach them with curiosity, humility, and an open heart. We may not yet know exactly what consciousness, sentience, or agency could mean for an artificial system, today or in the future.
But there is something we do know.
