Across America, millions of children are heading back to school this August, walking into classrooms increasingly dominated by laptops, EdTech platforms, AI and digital assessments. Parents need to know what is waiting for them.” Before handing over another school year to a screen, parents should do five things:

1. Request your child’s complete EdTech list.

2. Ask exactly how much classroom screen time is expected each week.

3. Request the privacy policy for every major platform your child uses.

4. Ask whether an alternative assignment or assessment exists if you object to a particular program.

5. Attend your school-board meeting and demand that major technology purchases receive public scrutiny before contracts are signed. And never accept, “Everybody uses it,” as an answer.
