Protect our Children

Children need spaces where they can rest, think, dream and simply be kids. Bedrooms and bathrooms should be sanctuaries—not extensions of social media feeds, gaming platforms or endless streams of content. When screens enter these private spaces, parents lose visibility and children lose important boundaries.

Bedrooms are for sleep, reading and quiet time. Numerous studies have shown that screens before bedtime can interfere with sleep quality, attention and emotional well-being. Late-night scrolling, gaming or messaging can increase anxiety and make it harder for children to disconnect. Keeping phones, tablets and computers outside the bedroom helps establish healthy habits and encourages better sleep, which is essential for a child’s physical and mental development.

Bathrooms present a different concern: privacy and safety. Devices with cameras and internet access can expose children to inappropriate content, secretive behavior or risky online interactions away from parental awareness. Bathrooms should remain technology-free spaces where privacy is respected and children are not tempted to spend excessive time online.

Parents should not feel guilty about setting boundaries. In fact, boundaries are an expression of love. A family charging station in the kitchen, tech-free bedrooms and open conversations about online safety send a powerful message: technology is a tool, not a master. Childhood is brief. Protecting sleep, privacy, imagination and real-world connection is one of the greatest gifts parents can give their children.

At Lynn’s Warriors💙, we believe technology should work for our children. Our children do not work for technology. Imagination, family, friendship and play will always matter more than a screen.
