Protect our Children

Topic: The War for Our Children’s Screens

The public – our Warriors – need a refresher, a tutorial, because the predators are winning.

We’re sounding an alarm every parent in America needs to hear. Over and over again.

Kids today aren’t just growing up with technology. They’re growing up inside it. Phones, tablets, gaming platforms, social apps and private messaging systems are now the playgrounds where children spend hours every day.

But behind many of these apps are environments that predators, scammers and criminal networks know exactly how to exploit.

Platforms like Roblox, Discord, Snapchat and other gaming and messaging apps are flooding children’s screens. Some of these spaces allow anonymous conversations, private messaging and direct contact between adults and minors. That creates a perfect environment for grooming, sextortion and exploitation.

Parents often believe their children are simply playing games or chatting with friends. What they may not realize is that strangers can be present in those same digital rooms.

Lynn Shaw, founder of Lynn’s Warriors, an organization working to educate families and advocate for stronger protections for children online.

The Warriors and the survivor parents we work with are sounding the alarm about the dangers children face in today’s digital environment.

If you believe your child is being targeted online or has experienced exploitation:

  • Ask what apps they use
  • Check privacy settings
  • Keep devices out of bedrooms at night
  • Make sure children know they can come to you if something goes wrong
