A multiagency effort in El Paso dubbed Operation Lost Souls located 24 runaways and missing children last month, officials said Tuesday.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said three children were found in Mexico, one in Puerto Rico, one in California and one in Oklahoma.

The operation led by Homeland Security Investigations and the DPS began in mid-May.

It was the first time that more than 15 law enforcement agencies and child advocacy groups collaborated to find children reported missing to the National Crime Information Center.

A porn actor and producer who recruited young women under false pretenses to appear in videos for San Diego-based website GirlsDoPorn.com was sentenced Monday to 20 years in custody in connection with his pleas to federal sex-trafficking and conspiracy charges.

• The increase in suspected suicide attempts by young people could be attributed to social distancing, which took away the in-person connections built at school  
• The increased numbers among teenage girls correlates with data that shows women are more likely to disclose suicidal thoughts and to seek help for them

LAS VEGAS — The FBI is offering $10,000 for help identifying John “Little Zion,” a murdered boy whose body was found by hikers near State Route 160.

The boy — between the ages of 8 and 10 — was discovered about 7 a.m. on May 28, hidden behind a bush off the main highway between Las Vegas and Pahrump.

Investigators are confident the body had been left after dark. “Little Zion” is the name of a trailhead at Mountain Springs, where the body was found.
